  • Claims administration and front-line customer service within company policies and procedures.

Opportunity

Provides expertise and support to claims and underwriting functions and the insurance industry by giving advice to management, providing expertise to assist in the settlement of large and complicated claims files, organizing quality assurance activities, and providing assistance in the training of claims professionals and other special projects.

  • Provide multiline claims expertise to assist the Claims department in improving company guidelines and programs to effectively manage loss expenses and for the consistent application of claims settlement policies and procedures.
  • Engage in special projects to examine the Claims function and develop ways to improve both processes and personnel to better serve customers, solve systemic problems and meet company goals.
  • Determine key measures to monitor service levels and effectiveness of Claims personnel.

Working with the Vice President, Underwriting, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a large complex specialty portfolio.

  • Oversee and drive profitability and growth of the complex specialty portfolio and contribute to the strategic plan.

The Underwriting Trainee Program is a twenty-four month accelerated learning experience designed to give you unparalleled expertise and grow your career in an exciting industry.  In this rotational program, mentors, managers, and underwriting coaches will teach you the ins and outs of our specialty insurance business through a variety of learning styles.

What exactly is Intact Public Entities?  And what does an underwriter do? 

IPE is a distribution channel within the Speciality Solutions division of Intact. We are a wholly owned Managing General Agent who specializes in Municipal, Public Administration and Community Services business.  Our book contains complex and large property to high abuse exposures and challenging liability spanning many different coverage offerings.

Our Underwriters understand our products inside and out.  As a member of the team, you’d become a champion of risk assessment and work directly with IPE’s network of Brokers – the people who sell our products to businesses or municipalities– to make sure they understand the products, know how to market them, and help them to evaluate the potential risks of taking on certain portfolios.
