Risk Management Considerations for Diving Boards
Swimming pools and aquatic facilities are magnets for fun, sport and recreation, but they are also a lightning rod for risk exposures. Diving remains a leading cause of sports-related spinal cord injuries worldwide, accounting for 35% of cases. In Canada, an average of three people lose their lives each year due to diving incidents, with most injuries occurring in private, unsupervised settings. IPE’s Centre of Excellence provides several great articles on risk exposures in aquatic facilities, and this one will do a deep-dive (!) into risk management guidelines relating to diving boards and platforms.
