As of July 1, 2026, a new change to provincial auto insurance rules will take effect.
The change, mandated by the Ontario Government, gives clients more control and flexibility over the accident benefits coverage of their auto policy. Some benefits that were formerly mandatory will now be optional.
Existing Intact Public Entities clients
No action is required if clients would like to maintain their current coverage. Clients will automatically keep the coverages they already have, ensuring uninterrupted protection. If clients would like to make changes to their policy during renewal, they must notify their broker or Intact Public Entities representative.
New Intact Public Entities clients
Clients can choose which optional Accident Benefits to include when purchasing their policy.
Brokers and Intact Public Entities representatives are committed to supporting new clients with coverage that fits their business’s unique needs.
